THE BOTTOM STABLE is a beautiful vintage, homeware. and gift shop in the most unlikely setting of a humble 16th Century stable, wedged between a popular village pub, an ancient church and a quintessentially English cricket green (Lurgashall, West Sussex).
From antique hand painted furniture, vintage curiosities with a French twist, handmade, decorative and contemporary homeware from up-and-coming artisans, to quirky and even whimsical one-off finds, mixing styles - old and new, mid century and antique, industrial and bohemium too, this shop really does 'Source The Unusual' and has proved itself as a go-to destination for imaginative gifts and original pieces for the design conscious home.
Their latest exciting collaboration is with another local business, the inimitable Spriggs the Florist of Petworth and now Stable customers can buy beautiful pots and planters of Spring flowers which sit comfortably alongside all the vintage finds.
Amy and Hollie decided to pursue their joint passion for 'beautiful things', and converted the ancient Stable themselves with the help of friends and family. With it’s original cobblestone floor and heavily beamed walls, it’s a historical delight. They opened for business in March 2013.
Scouring vintage markets both here and abroad, design fairs, and the likes of Etsy and Folksy online, the girls source a really interesting and eclectic mix and now with the latest collaboration with their friends at the local florist, The Bottom Stable really is ready for Spring!
What is even more exciting is that The Bottom Stable has launched an online shop - perfect for those that cannot make it down.
THE BOTTOM STABLE is open every Saturday 11-4 / Sunday 12-5 (& bank hols). The Bottom Stable, Noah’s Ark Inn, Lurgashall Green, Lurgashall, Nr Petworth, West Sussex GU28 9ET.
