1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m an Interior designer and run the design studio Otago Design with my partner Edwin Sercombe. We work with artisans from marginalized communities to create collections of fine objects for the contemporary interior.

2. Who do you live with?

Two of my best girl friends

3. Tell us a little bit about your home?

My house was built in 1881 and is an Artisan Cottage. It is double fronted which is lovely as it allows in a lot of light. It has two stories and tree bedrooms. I rent two of the rooms and also use one room as a studio for my company Otago Design

4. What made you choose to live here in this property?

The house is very charming. It is small yet well proportioned and has a lovely little garden. It was quite rundown when I brought it so there was opportunity to remodel it as I wanted.

5. What improvements have you made?

I removed the chimneybreast in the dinning room and the bedroom above to give the rooms better flow. I replace some of the windows with new windows that were in keeping with the architectural vernacular. While I was doing this I enlarged some of the openings to allow even more light in. I replace the whole of the ground floor floor with a beautiful herringbone wooden flooring. I up cycled the existing Ikea kitchen by adding a new cast concrete surface and a slate surface and adding vintage cupboards for the high level storage. I re did the bathroom so that it is super practical and makes the most of the space.

6. What’s your favorite room?

The sitting room

7. Where do you find inspiration?

Everywhere, especially Africa and Devon!

8. Describe your perfect day spent at home.

A long lie-in followed by breakfast with my housemates, maybe pancakes and fruit. Then Bobbin (my dog) will need a walk on Hampstead Heath. Back for BBQ lunch in the garden with some white wine then drinks and dinner with friends…
