1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Heidi Maude, I’m an interiors stylist and creative consultant working with ad companies, magazines and private clients.  (www.heidimaude.com) Our house is used as a location house for filming and photographic shoots.

2. Where do you live?

We live on the Mapesbury Conservation Area in Willesden Green.

3. Who do you live with?

My husband Gavin who is an entertainment lawyer, our 2 children Ella-Marie, 14 and Louis, 11, our Birman cat Suba and soon a labrador puppy, so far called Bailey but the verdict is still out on that one…

4. Tell us a little bit about your home.

It’s an Edwardian semi, built in 1910, which we bought in 2010.

5. What made you choose to live here in this property?

We didn’t have much choice I tell you, we bought at the height of the credit crunch, it took us nearly 2 years to find. I saw every North London house for sale between Crouch End and Kensal Rise! It was in a real state and hadn’t received any love since the 80s, but I knew it had good bones and I could make something of it.

6. What improvements have you made?

Just about everything: new kitchen, new bathrooms, turned the top floor 1 bedroom flat into our master bedroom, new plumbing and radiators, a small extension, new drive and garden design… Quite an extensive refurbishment, all whilst living in it!! I have the nicest, most considerate builders…

7. What’s your favourite room?

My bedroom all the way at the top of the house - 1 floor between me and the rest of the family - I watch Saturday kitchen in the bath, sort out my wardrobe for the rest of the week, generally mooch around basically. Or my prop studio where a quiet session of getting creative with BBC 6 Music on in the background fills my battery right up again…

8. Where do you find inspiration?

Anywhere and everywhere… A lifelong interiors mags addiction, a recently acquired Pinterest obsession which I’m only just recovering from, movies (I’m more interested in the decor than the plot!), there are quite a few excellent interiors books being published at the moment too! I’m planning a major going back to basics cause our house feels too busy, I tend to be inspired by nature when starting new projects.

9. Describe your perfect day spent at home.

My Saturday morning me-time, followed by getting creative with the kids at the kitchen table, or having friends over for lunch, then papers or knitting on the sofa in front of the fire or a couple of episodes of Breaking Bad on Netflix, or a good book in bed - any combination of the above really.
