Winter is not just about cold thankfully…there are some lovely things about winter like cuddling up in front of a fire with a bottle of wine either with a friend or a partner. However the cold weather does have some drawbacks and it is important that you get the inside of your home all cosy and inviting.
The bedroom is the last room you see at night, and the first room you wake up to; it is where you rest, recharge and relax. We all know that feeling comfortable and happy in your bedroom is always beneficial.
So follow these few tips:
Walls – It varies on your taste although why not go in trend with the season and pick a rich colour to add instant warmth; deep reds, berry tones and golden shades are all great plus add textured and patterned wallpaper to give it a luxurious feel.
Soft furnishings – Cushions are great to make a bed or sofa more inviting and throws are wonderful for snuggling under.
Seating - A chaise longue is a relaxing addition; designed for reclining, they're the perfect for reading a book or just catching a quick snooze.
Rugs – Indulge yourself and go for thick-pile rug, it needs to feel warm and soft under foot.
Window dressing - The idea is to maximise the light coming into your room during the hours the sun is up and block out the outside world and reduce draughts once it goes cold and dark. Try using fully-lined Roman blinds and with a variety of trims out there you are sure to customise it to your taste.
Lighting – During the darker months most of us rarely see daylight while at home so isn’t just about creating a mood; it’s essential to have ceiling lighting and during the evenings when you want to relax, complement with lamps dotted around the room while adding romantic sparkle.
Headboards – Are great to create a focal point in the bedroom so remember to make the right choice. There is such a range I shall tell you all about them next week.
