As part of the Dulwich Festival, Cavaliero Finn are having their bi-annual Open House on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May from 10.30am to 6pm. Visitors to the show will be able to see the work of over 15 different contemporary artists and designer-makers in an exhibition curated in the comfortable surroundings of Cavaliero Finn's home-cum gallery in South East London.
Previewing at the exhibition will be the work of an exciting young Goldsmith’s artist, Sam Edkins. Using images taken from old medical journals, Sam prints onto velvet and re-upholsters traditional Victorian chairs. The results are witty, unique and eye-catching. Also new work, fresh from last week’s Milan Furniture Fair, from design duo Custhom, inspired by the Bauhaus movement, and award winning textile designer Lorna Syson with her range of gorgeous eco friendly cushions, inspired by the British countryside in Spring.
Designer Richard Brendon’s acclaimed ‘Reflect’ and ‘Details from Willow’ range will also be showcased. ‘Reflect’ brings life back to decorative antique saucers missing their other halves by using gilding to create a highly reflective teacup. ‘Details from Willow’ brings the traditional Willow Pattern we all know and love into the 21st Century. And another new addition to the Cavaliero Finn portfolio, Kathy Dalwood will be presenting her latest plaster busts designed with the London Olympics in mind.
Gill Rocca will be featuring two stunning Horizon paintings together with some beautiful new miniatures. Work from the latest series by Trevor Burgess will be on display and Thurle Wright will be showing her latest paper works exploring language and text, with a new folded text and image piece based on the history of art and civilization.
New to Cavaliero Finn will be the work of Royal College painter Daisy Clarke whose beguiling paintings explore half grasped dream worlds suggesting places inhabited by fragile and enigmatic figures.
Work from two sculptors who share an ability to create stunning organic forms will be on show. Fresh from her success at Ceramic Art London, Ikuko Iwamoto will be exhibiting her new exquisite framed ceramic sculptural works and Jim Jack who has recently finished two huge sculptural commissions for hotels in Miami and Mauritius has made a striking new piece for Cavaliero Finn mastering his technique of layering plywood into organic forms.
Also on show will be Daniel Reynolds’ beautiful range of large earthenware pots and Kate Wickham’s vibrant painterly sculptural vessels. Plus work from designers Shan Valla, Mizuyo Yamashita, Madeleine Boulesteix, Heidi Awford, Alice Mara, Sophie Cook, AliMiller and Liz Emtage, paintings by Tony Beaver and Nicky Hodge and sculpture by Rowena Brown.
It promises to be a show not to be missed!
