I've long been a fan of Habitat with their simple, clean designs and on trend accessories that instantly update a room. So getting a sneak peek at their Autumn/Winter 2013 was very exciting and they haven't disappointed. As usual, the new collection contains products that are perfect for lots of homes, whether it's an apartment lacking a bit of space or a house with space to spare. Strong colours help to brighten up even the dullest of furniture and turn it in to a great focal point, all at a really accessible and affordable price.
The new collection really goes to town on lines and linear shapes, bringing strong definition to all the pieces. Their designers have taken furniture designing back to basics, using hand drawn methods to create a free and eclectic edge to some of the pieces. Overall the effect is much more unique than you would expect from a high street store and means that the pieces fit effortlessly in to many interior design styles. There's lots of drama from black furniture, but balanced with bright colours coming through in key pieces and especially through textiles and accessories.
These beautiful Sura chairs have to be mentioned and really form the central point of the new collection. A 1970's style chair brought right up to date and given an Oriental edge with the black weave.
These tables have already been recommended to a client as they are superb! Bought individually but adding even more punch as a cluster, you can alter the arrangement to suit your room. Perfect for a coffee table, with the flexibility of being able to move around the room whilst still retaining the central point of the seating area.
Then moving on to textiles - I love watermark fabrics and so the new inky, blotty designs are right up my street!
And finally, the Emersen bed with its linen headboard is just fantastic for a welcoming bedroom. Dressed in these great bright bed linen, throws and cushions it keeps things nice and airy throughout winter and beyond.
Some of the collection is available now, with the rest to follow over the next few weeks. www.habitat.co.uk
