In this week's blog post, I'm delighted to feature designer and fellow Devonian, Jane Foster.
What really struck me about Jane's floral-inspired screen prints was the gorgeous vibrant colours...and they're such cheerful designs!
Based in a purpose-built studio room in her home in Totnes, Jane designs and creates not only these prints, but also soft toys, bags, purses, quilts, cushions, fabric and cards.
She designs all her images using a pencil or black ink pen on paper before putting them onto silk screens.
Jane is strongly influenced by Scandinavian design and particularly likes design from the 50s and 60s. She loves artwork by Dick Bruna and Alain Gree, plus early Marimekko fabric designs and work by Lucienne Day.
Here are some more of Jane's lovely designs which are available from her on-line shop...
Jane also has a range of prints available at Heal's and Next. And her London design in particular is proving to be very popular at the moment, with the London Olympics 2012 taking place. Her clients also include Habitat, The Art Group and Clothkits.
I love her bold, happy designs. They would be perfect to brighten up any room in your home.
