Caroline Pratt is a Leeds based Printmaker and Surface Pattern Designer who has just launched a new collections of fifties inspired limited edition screen-prints, cards and tea-towels.
She fell in love with the work of fifties textile designers whilst at University, almost ten years ago, especially their minimal modernist approach to design. An approach that has continued to shape her own thinking and design aesthetic.
As well as an appreciation of all things retro, Caroline's country roots and love of the great outdoors are a constant source of inspiration for the subject of her designs. “There are so many interesting shapes, textures and creatures you can find on a walk in the woods, in your garden or on the moors that you just can’t help but want to record those within your work, they naturally lend themselves to simple shapes and retro patterns!”.
These natural forms are happily doodled and simplified before being lovingly hand screen-printed onto carefully selected papers and fabrics using environmentally friendly inks in some of the chirpiest colours you could hope to see.
You can get your hands on Caroline’s new range of products in various independent gift shops across the country as well as via her website.
