Blue. It’s often claimed to be the worlds’ favourite colour and trend forecasters are predicting that we will see more of it next year and beyond. So, as an emerging trend I had a little look around to see where blue is popping up already for home interiors and accessories.
From turquoise and sky blue through to deep petrol, blue generally is perceived to have calming qualities. Lighter and softer blues calm the mind, which make them a soothing choice possibly for a bedroom. Blue is also a great colour to use in any ‘study’ area – it can aid concentration and help us to think!
Petrol blue is quite an intense, rich colour that can look quite glamorous. The Ravelle Petrol Blue wallpaper from www.wallpaperking.co.uk has an elegant damask design with a silver glitter motif.
This Grafitti Graphic silk cushion by Judy Holme www.notonthehighstreet.com shows how deep petrol blue looks striking with a lighter or brighter colour such as turquoise. The chunky knitted handmade petrol blue Tricote Pouffe is from www.bluesuntree.co.uk.
Sky blue always seems cheerful, like this sky blue wallpaper ‘Our adventure is about to begin’ from www.minimoderns.com.
These sky blue wooden Valder dining chairs by made.com and from www.furnish.co.uk, have handwoven paper cord seats. The sky blue Diamantini & Domeniconi Butterfly Clock from www.heals.co.uk would be a cheerful addition to a light, bright airy kitchen.
