It may not feel that way yet, but spring will be with us very soon. Now is the time to do all those little tidying up chores in the garden that have been ignored in the winter months, so that when the weather does eventually warm up and the sun appears, you won’t be caught unawares.
I’m no gardener, but I do like the garden to look as appealing and maintained as the rooms in the house and that does mean a little spring cleaning is now in order. All it takes is a quick sweep of all the hard surfaces, a little weeding (because yes, they have started to grow already), a quick rake of the lawn and a few new pots to brighten things up a bit.
It’s time also to look at the garden furniture and give it a lick of varnish or decide on new. There are so many different designs of garden furniture sets to choose from now (and indeed brands of furniture) that we are spoilt for choice. It just depends on the look and feel that you want to create, the number of people you need to seat, and the available space.
Wood is always a popular choice and styles can either be traditional or modern, metal always looks smart, and aluminium has the advantage of being very light and easy to move around as well as being very contemporary. But, if I have my choice, it would be for synthetic rattan which has all the elegance of traditional Edwardian furniture but can be left outside all year round.
