Painting a ceiling It’s very tricky to do, but it’s possible to make it easier. Starting at the edges and working your way in is advisable. Next, try and paint carefully – a paint roller can help, as you’re less likely to see dripping. Leave to dry and then apply a second coat.

Removing Artex A textured coating which features in many homes with a 1970’s/80’s décor, it can be hard to get rid of. To do it, wear protective gear, use a hammer, chisel and a steamer/ steam stripper. Artex can contain asbestos, which is dangerous.

Removing tiles Equally tricky, tile removal should be done with care. Ideally, you should use a hammer and cold chisel on the tile grouting, as it makes for an easier job in removing entire tiles rather than attacking them in the middle.
