We’re often asked how we choose our ‘Website of the Week’ and we have to confess it’s an instinctive feeling. Like the feeling you get when you walk into a potential new house for the first time and you know in the first few seconds that this is the ‘one’.
It’s the same with the websites that we choose. We know pretty much straight away that they will be featured. They all display products that we would like to have at home, or that we know we will someday buy as a gift. The products could be unique, or unusual in some way, or they are simply a selection of products that are curated into a beautiful collection.
The same was true when we first saw Jasmine White London which was launched only six months ago after a successful debut at Top Drawer London.
It was created by Supriya Broadbent who wanted to reflect her love of all things beautiful, handcrafted and finished to a high standard. She drew her inspiration directly from her life in both India and the UK and in her production she uses traditional crafts and skills from communities in India which have been inherited through generations. This not only results in unique products but also helps to sustain communities that would otherwise be displaced due to increasing urbanization.
The other thing that drew us to Jasmine White London was Supriya’s passion for colour and pattern, which she believes evoke mood and atmosphere and enjoyment too. Her designs (the floral patterns on the hand painted enamelware are by Supriya herself) are cheerful and optimistic and we are now firmly under her spell.
