Wednesday Wants: My pick of London Christmas Fairs

Fairs and craft markets are my Christmas shopping secret weapon. I make sure I visit several every year as they never fail to deliver on special, one off gifts that add flair to Christmas stockings. Make sure you don't miss out with my top three London market picks:

East London Design Show, Old Street

WHEN: 1st - 4th Dec, 10-6pm (Sat/Sun)

WHERE: Shoreditch Town Hall, EC1V 9LT

HOW MUCH: £5 (but there's a bring a friend free voucher here)

WHAT: Not strictly a Christmas market but an absolute treasure trove for interior and jewellery finds from independent designers. Exhibiting this year are regular favourites Mini Moderns and people will always need plates (whose handiwork you can see in the image above). In fact the Guardian reckons it's "the place to pick up tomorrow's products today". So there.

Of Cabbages and Kings Market, Stoke Newington

WHEN: 3rd-4th Dec, 11am-5pm

WHERE: Abney House, N16 0AS

HOW MUCH: FREE

WHAT: A "designer-maker market" featuring a host of independent designers. For a flavour of what is likely to be up for grabs, take a look at the Of Cabbages and Kings site.

More info on the website here.

We Make London, Balham

WHEN: 10th Dec, 11am - 5pm

WHERE: Battersea Arts Centre (BAC), SW11 5TN

HOW MUCH: £2

WHAT: They've moved sarf from Chelsea and this year promises to be their best yet. With a focus on hand-made, the market features over 80 designers / crafters and there's several newbies I'm really excited about seeing this year. Check out the We Make London blog for interviews with this year's stall-holders, one of which is the brilliant Enclosed Spaces (whose handiwork features above).

So those are my favourites, what are yours?
