Woodchip and Magnolia is a new design studio featuring a collection of wallpapers, murals and wall panels. Digital wallpaper with soul in fact, designed with love by Nina Marika Tarnowski, and every one reflects her love for wallpaper and for all things eclectic, organic and with a story to tell.
Here at Heart Home we have known Nina for many years. She supported Heart Home mag when it first launched and she has always been a favourite designer or ours during her long career at Graham and Brown.
A confirmed wallpaper addict, Nina has been obsessed with pattern and colour for as long as she can remember she once told her teacher at five she wanted to be a designer. After graduating from Leeds College of Art in 1997, she worked her way up from a graduate placement to Design Manager. Worked as a freelance and in-house designer back in the day just before computer aided design exploded onto the scene. When every single colour-way was hand painted and every layout was hand drawn in full repeat. An eighteen-year career at Graham and Brown cemented Nina’s love of design, interiors and supporting emerging British talent.
In 2010, after the birth of her second child, Nina took a year off on maternity leave started to blog and get social media savvy. In doing so, she discovered a whole new world of creativity. She fell in love with the principles of slow living and dusted down her camera and started to draw and paint again. Jump forward to March 2016 she jumped ship from Graham & Brown to allow for new creative adventures and has been on a roller-coaster of creative bliss ever since and most importantly being able to do the school run each day.
For Nina design is the process of experimenting, or rediscovering bringing traditional design skills to a digital era with few quirky twists along the way.
