The Pilgrm (yes, without an 'i') is a 73-bedroom hotel that will open in Paddington’s Norfolk Square this summer, and is a considered reinterpretation of the traditional hotel. This new hotel will make booking and arriving a seamless experience where guests will check in online prior to arrival, and removing the need for a reception desk and a traditional hotel lobby. Sounds good to us, especially when prices are pitched at an accessible starting price of just £99 per room per night. It will also feature a ground floor neighbourhood café that will also serve as the welcome area for guests, giving a distinctly local coffee house feel. Upstairs there will be a lounge bar and dining room.
The design philosophy behind this new brand is a celebration of craftsmanship, provenance and community. The bedrooms will feature reclaimed and restored furnishings from 200-year-old mahogany parquet floors to original cast iron radiators, offset by a striking signature Tom Dixon ‘cloud carpet’. In addition the bedrooms include organic mattresses handmade in Devon, 100% Egyptian cotton sheets as well as Marshall speakers. Bathed in natural daylight, each of the bedrooms are pared back, having removed items that over the years have become unnecessary to the traveller, enabling the hotel experience to be more streamlined.
“The Pilgrm represents the journey of a collective of individuals I've enjoyed knowing over the years. Together we present a new luxury to today's traveller, often from unexpected places. We will combine the finest guest experience of today, with the finest British craftsmanship of yesterday.”
