At this time of year it’s all about BBQs, al-fresco dining, and lazy warm evenings. And there’s something about cooking outside that never loses its appeal. But why stop at a solitary barbecue for cooking up those outdoor feasts when you can create a proper outdoor kitchen?
Drawers and cupboards will keep all you need to hand without running backwards and forwards to the kitchen, and the top will provide a perfect work surface for outdoor food prep. The icing on the cake would be an outdoor sink for washing salads and vegetables and for washing up at the end of the meal.
Decoratively, paint your outside kitchen as you would any indoor space. Here shades of grey keep the area looking sophisticated and act as the perfect foil for all that greenery. Practically, durable, all-weather shielding woodstains provide the perfect coating for drawer fronts, work surfaces and smaller cooking accessories, whilst exterior gloss and masonry paint offer accompanying pops of colour.
A pizza oven would be a great addition. And don’t forget to build a space for log storage too.
