I love hand drawn illustrations. There’s something about the time and skill that goes into creating stunning images by hand that humbles and amazes me. The right illustration, framed and displayed can completely bring a scheme together, or even be the jump off point for a new colour palette. If you also appreciate the power of a pencil (or pen) then you're going to like Juliet Jackman - a talented illustrator and proud Northerner currently living in London.
Since the rainy play time when a teacher gave a very young Juliet some paper, pencils and a picture of a Victorian lady to copy she's been hooked on creating beautiful images of women.
Starting out as nothing more than a hobby, Juliet gave a friend a birthday card with a hand drawn illustration on it and was pleasantly surprised by the reaction and feedback she received.
Describing her work as delicate, unique, elegant and feminine, Juliet draws inspiration from various places; the 1950s, nature, architecture and jazz music - all elements that inspire me, so it's really no coincidence that I love her work.
As well as cards, you can also get some of this hand drawn loveliness as a print, on a canvas, or on t-shirts and mugs.
And if you're in the market for something extra special you can also commission a bespoke piece.
