Interview with Isabelle Palmer of The Balcony Gardener + Book Giveaway

The Balcony Gardener - Summer Collection I'm delighted this week to feature an interview with Isabelle Gardener of The Balcony Gardener, plus an opportunity to win a copy of her new book.

How did your company, The Balcony Gardener, come about?

Having a small urban outdoor area, I wanted to create some form of garden even though I had limited space and knowledge. I found most of the garden centres did not cater for this market, especially for balconies.

Living in London and having a very time-consuming job meant that I was exceedingly time poor, coupled with the fact I didn’t know very much about container gardening.

I looked for a company that would provide a capsule container garden to start off with, but couldn’t find this.  Hence The Balcony Gardener was born three years ago.

Could you tell us about your new summer collection for The Balcony Gardener?

Our new summer collection takes its inspiration from modern innovative products that really make the most of your outdoor space, however small.

The products have taken inspiration from the interior trends of this season, bright colours and sleek modern lines, to create an outside room somewhere where you can sit, relax and grow your own little bit of green in city.

Could you tell us about your new book, The Balcony Gardener?

My new book covers creative ways to enliven your outdoor space, however small.

Amongst other projects, I look at ways to create beautiful window boxes, styled roof terraces, growing your own vegetables for cooking and all those finishing touches to really make your garden.

I think it’s very important to introduce children at a very early age. So some of the projects I look at are great for getting kids involved too.
