Printed textiles inspired by nature from Marram Studio

Tea Towels by Marram Studio I'm delighted this week to feature printed textiles inspired by nature which have been created by Glasgow-based company, Marram Studio.

It's run by founder Sarah Johnston, who's a screen printer and designer.  Included in her product range of soft furnishings, gifts and fashion accessories are tea towels which you can see above, and the cushions, purses and wall art below.

She also makes cards, bags, baby t-shirts and lavender bundles.

Her current collection takes its inspiration from the beauty of nature with bold graphic prints showing sunflowers, fritillaries, alliums, umbels and dahlias.

As for a little bit of background about Sarah...

In 2004, after studying textiles at Glasgow School of Art, she started her company in Orkney under the name Digitata.

Five years later, she decided to rebrand the business as Marram Studio, naming it after the marram grass which grows on the sandy shores on the island.

She's now based in a studio in Glasgow and finds inspiration from botanical forms, ranging from wild Scottish flowers to exotic tropical blooms to create her contemporary prints.

As well as working with her Marram Studio business, she also offers various design services under her original name Digitata, including web design and specialises in providing web solutions for creative businesses.

If you'd like to keep up-to-date with Sarah's news, she's on Twitter and Facebook.
