How many of you are planning a holiday now that the festive season is over? No doubt most of you are at least thinking about it. We know we are. With three more months of wet winter weather ahead it's the one thing that keeps us going.
Just think of it. Warm, sultry days with the taste of salt on the tongue and sand in the toes. Rising in the morning to the sight of the sun glistening off the sea, and a long day ahead of building sandcastles, exploring the countryside, and just watching the world go by. Followed by seafood suppers, wine on the patio and a cosy country cottage to retreat to. Our idea of bliss.
And if you can't wait for summer, a cottage by the sea also makes a welcome short break any time of the year. Bracing sea walks, pub lunches and crackling log fires could be yours. Better still you can even take the dog to some of the cottages on the Cornish Horizons site. And you know how much the pooch likes the sea!
Cornish Horizons is based in Padstow, Fowey, Looe and St Ives with over 500 cottages throughout the county. It's part of a family of brands, which make up The Original Cottage Company, which started at the dining table of Richard and Lesley Ellis in the early 1990s and has grown to become the largest family-owned independent holiday cottage company in the country. So you can be sure that the staff there share a wealth of local knowledge and are familiar with the holiday homes that they represent.
Honestly, browsing the site had us enthralled for hours. All of the cottages featured here have sea or estuary views but you can also search by location. Some are at the luxury end of the market, but all of them are full of character and you're sure to find something that appeals to you.
