Christmas Gifts for Him from The Heart Home Shop

Why oh why, are men so difficult to buy for? It seems to take that much longer to search out the perfect Christmas gift for the brothers, husbands, sons and boyfriends in our lives. But the good new is, we at Heart Home have compiled a lovely little prezzie list for all of those men.

Christmas Gifts for Her from The Heart Home Shop

Buying gifts for our mothers, sisters, and friends is always easy for us at Heart Home. Why? Because we only buy the things we'd really love to receive ourselves. With a few little concessions to the recipients personal taste of course. And that's the way we've stocked The Heart Home shop. With everything we'd love to find in our own stockings this year.

And if you don't see anything you like below. Pop over to the shop (see the shop tab at the top of the page) where there's lot's more to choose from.

Christmas Decorations From The Heart Home Shop

Are you one of those people who like to have the decorations up by the 1st December, or do you like to uphold the family tradition of dressing the tree on Christmas Eve? Either way you need to do a little forward planning if you don't want to be rushing out to the shops at the last minute because you forgot the dog ate the fairy last year. And that's where we can help. We have stocked our Christmas shop with all the baubles (not to mention wreaths, cards, and bits and bobs) you might need to make this year the most magical holiday of all.

Easy Decorating Ideas for Christmas with a Nordic Twist

We're taking inspiration from the Scandinavians today with a few quick and easy ideas for decorating the house this Christmas. Our northern cousins know a thing or two about tasteful festive decoration and even if your taste is for more colour at this time of the year, these tips will work with any colour scheme or theme.

What's more they are very easy to do.

Baubles from Sainsbury's Home

Instead of getting a full size tree this year, why not find an attractive looking branch and decorate it with a few baubles and ornaments. Keep to a simple colour scheme and prop it up in a corner where the kids and the dog won't knock it over! Alternatively decorate it with some clip on birds from Cox and Cox for a completely natural look.

Hanging Wicker Star £4.99 Large White Squirrel £4.99. Pure & White 50 Mixed Bauble Pack £4.99. Set of 4 Christmas Tealight Holders £7.99. All Dunelm

Make a real feature of a window with some hanging stars and baubles. The little lanterns will look fabulous at night with tealights twinkling away to welcome guests, and who could resist those little white squirrels?

Wooden Star Tree Decoration 99p. Pure & White 50 Mixed Bauble Pack £4.99. Stag Head £3.99. Pure & White Tray and Two Mugs Set £6.99. Pure & White Tea For One Set £9.99 (Includes Teapot). All Dunelm

Don't forget the kitchen. It needs a little festive love too. Display your Christmas tableware proudly and add a few decorations for good measure.

Napkins from The Linen Works

And don't forget to decorate the table. We love this pretty, rustic idea. All you need is some string, berries, rosemary sprigs and cinnamon sticks. Not only does it look effective, the scent will be divine too.

Christmas Gifts for the Coffee Lover

For our Christmas gift guide this week we're concentrating on lovers. Coffee lovers. We all know one. The sweetheart, family member or work colleague who cannot function until they have had their morning shot of caffeine. The friend who always wants to meet in a coffee shop. Or maybe it's you who cannot get through the day without several cups of the black stuff. In that case, you have our permission to buy yourself a present.

Don't forget we are adding new products daily to our shop in the run up to Christmas. If you don't see something here you like, why not click to show more, or pop over to our shop where you can use the drop down menu to search for the perfect gift?

Christmas Gifts For The Boys

Every week we will be putting together Christmas gift guides from the Heart Home shop to make it that all extra easy for you. Last week it was dedicated to the girls, this week we're concentrating on the boys. Whether its backpacks, scarves, prints, we've got you covered with some pretty cool pieces. Make sure to visit our shop as we are constantly updating our lists for the run up to Christmas. We definitely don't want to be missing anybody out ;)

Christmas Gifts for the Girls

What kind of Christmas shopper are you?

Are you the kind who has everything bought and wrapped by the end of August, or are you more likely to be making a mad dash round the shops on Christmas eve? Or, like us do you start to think about it round about October and then start making decisions at the end of November. Plenty of time we always think, and then we start to realise we've left it too late for some things and panic starts to set in.

Whatever category you fall into, we're here to help. We have lots of lovely things in our shop already but we will be adding items every week up until December. We're starting off with a few gentle suggestions for mum, sister, daughter or girlfriend in a range of price brackets. If you don't see what you like here just click through to the shop and have a little nosy there.

Pom Pom's Galore

PomPom Galore was set up by Kat Bright and Marisa Harrison in May 2014 to bring to the market a traditionally made wool pompom as a decorative garland; a pompom bunting in fact! Perfect for Christmas decorations, they can be used as garlands, to decorate the table or even as decorative touches to hand-wrapped presents.

PomPom Galore Christmas.jpg

Each garland is 7ft long with 42 wool pompoms along a waxed cotton string with hanging loops at each end (they alternate between 4cm and 3cm sized pompoms to give a a better effect).  They are all traditionally handmade using 100% wool.

Also available are pompom book marks with 6cm diameter wool pompoms with twisted wax cotton tails that fit snuggly into the spine of a book, wool pompom key rings on leather straps with metal clasps, and a range of hair bobbles (4cm diameter, in sets of colours) and large ones at 7cm diameter (in 3 colours) which would make perfect stocking fillers for all of the family.

All come beautifully packaged in re-useable organza bags.

We are delighted with the response – pompoms make people smile, everytime!  And we get super feed back from customers young and old! We’ve got lots of ideas we are developing for 2015 so watch the pompom space!” Kat Bright, PomPom Galore.

Regular contributor Kate Baxter jazzed up Christmas for us two years ago with her stylish take on Christmas decorations. She used paper pompoms in zingy colours, neons and florescent accessories. To keep the look contemporary instead of nursery, just remember to use this scheme with shades of grey and plenty of white. Photographed by Sarah Hogan for Heart Home magazine [3]

From The Archives: A Christmas Carol

Lets go back this time last year for some festive inspiration taken from the Winter 2012 issue of Heart Home magazine. Stylist Claire Morgan evokes the spirit of Christmas with a nostalgic decorating scheme. By combining vintage finds from antique fairs and car boot sales, with hand-me-downs, some lovingly home crafted items, and a few carefully selected bought items that are destined to become family heirlooms.

From the Archives - Christmas All Wrapped Up

Another little backward glance to the Christmas 2011  issue of Heart Home mag. Jeska from the lovely blog Lobster & Swan and her friend Rose who runs the shop, Butlers Emporium in Hastings shared with us new ways to wrap Christmas presents. Here are two of their beautiful ideas for creating beautifully wrapped gifts for the holiday season.

Jeska has used cream and gold handmade paper for a simple look and added red embellishments to add a touch of luxury.

Magical Christmas Wreaths

Christmas is not the time to be minimalist in our minds and we love a touch of the traditional here at Heart Home. The Magical Christmas Wreath Company are masters at creating extravagant fresh wreaths, swags and garlands and delivering them to your door. Their handmade luxury decorations use fresh, natural, handpicked seasonal greenery and often you will find hidden fairies and woodland creatures that add a magical touch. All are topped with beautiful hand tied bows.

They are also more than happy to create bespoke creations to suit your own style, space and budget so let your imagination run riot.

From the Archives - A Vintage Inspired Christmas

A little backward glance again to the Christmas 2011  issue of Heart Home mag. Joanna Thornhill, stylist extraordinaire and a regular contributor of the magazine, created a wonderful vintage wonderland for us. This pretty display of baubles is a great idea for those of us that don't have quite enough room for an actual tree. She used a selection of flat decorations and removable 3M Command strips so that no marks were left on the wall. Perfect for renters too.

Never one to stay with the conventional, Joanna then encouraged us to play with scale with our presents and to wrap them in ribbon. The only trouble is, they are far too lovely to unwrap!

She then added a little wonderland to the tea-table. Apples were adorned with glitter and little ceramic animals were used instead of placecard holders.

As ever, this is a theme that will stand the test of time.

And you don’t just have to add colour to your walls, Crown Paints’ mesmerising metallic emulsions are great for creating unique tree decorations. Try adding an element of sparkle by painting baubles, snowflakes and stars – purple Dazzle, golden Millionaire® and blue Vivid are great for this. To see how it’s done, watch Crown’s easy to follow video.

Ideal for colder nights during Christmas, Crown’s latest AW13 Colour Influence Lustre combines eye-catching hues of purples, blues and reflective silvers to capture the essence of minerals and metals. Soft lilacs and purple tones are great for walls, adding a hint of subtle glamour – for best results try Sweet Dreams®, Lavender cupcake® or Sweet sherbet®.

From the Archives - A Nordic Chic Christmas

We've been having a little delve into the archives here at Heart Home and we've decided that it's high time we shared a little of it here on the blog. For our first Christmas issue back in 2011 we asked three interior stylists to show three different Christmas themes for our readers and the results were stunning.  Not only that but all three are still bang on trend in 2013 too.

Emily Blunden gave us a Nordic Chic Christmas theme.  Lots of wood, earth tones and organic textures brightened up with red and purple.

The table setting was kept sophisticated with a limited palette of textural whites.

We loved this different approach to decorating with baubles, which were restricted to folksy, wood and traditional style tree decorations.

It certainly brought the wooden chalet look indoors for us.

Hosting Christmas this Year? Get Your Home Ready!

Christmas is a period when you can spend time with your family, enjoying each other’s company and eating probably a little too much food. If it is your turn to host the family Christmas this year then you want to make sure your home is ready for the festivities! 1254534_30817637

You do not want to be embarrassed by your home when everyone arrives, so a few changes could make a dramatic difference. If you have a stain ridden carpet or wallpaper is peeling off the walls, this should be your first priority. A new floor doesn’t have to cost the earth and you can tear your old one up by yourself. Order online to make some substantial savings and you can fit it yourself following the instructions. Tear down your wallpaper and give the walls a lick of paint. This should take a day or a weekend maximum, and soon you will have a beautiful home.

Decorations are important to create the festive feel everyone desires. Go a little bit mental and decorate as much as you like. This will create a magical feeling when the children first walk in the door. Don't forget the essentials such as the Christmas tree, wreath for the front door and stockings on the fire place.

This post was written by Amy Bennett who is getting into the festive spirit already. She has purchased a new floor from Posh Flooring at a fantastic price!
